Police called on anti-maskers inside of a store in Chinatown

On Sunday afternoon, police were called to the Kowloon Market in Ottawa’s Chinatown after 2 customers refused to wear masks.

Victoria Chang, co-owner, explained that two young men came into the store to purchase some things without masks, and when asked to put masks on, they refused rudely and claimed to have a medical exemption.

The store staff told the 2 men that they wouldn’t serve them and asked them to leave the store; eventually, customers called the police.

“They stopped at the entrance and blocked the door and [did] not allow the other customers to go out,” Chang said.
