    Canada’s health charities are raising less than half of their standard funds this year due to COVID-19.

    Due to the pandemic, many in-person events that charities rely on for fundraising have been canceled. The financial hit means delays in disease research and less support for people who benefit from the charities.

    The Health Charities Coalition of Canada is an umbrella group of national health charities that host walkathons, galas, and other major fundraising events that have raised around $650 million a year. Members have reported revenues have fallen more than 50% as physical distancing requirements during the COVID-19 crisis have cut back on those events.
