The Supreme Court is considering a new carbon tax

The showdown over Ottawa’s decision to force a tax on carbon pollution is happening today in Canada’s highest court. 

As part of the liberal government’s plan to cut Canada’s carbon emission levels by 2030, the Supreme Court of Canada will hear arguments on the carbon pricing system’s constitutionality. 

The court will hear Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Alberta’s separate appeals on how the federal government is overstepping its authority and infringing on provincial jurisdiction.
