The game could decide who goes to the top of the table in CONCACAF’s World Cup qualifying Octagon. They are set to play in Edmonton where inclement weather is to be expected. Team Canada’s Sam Adekugbe grew up in Calgary and has played pro soccer in Norway so he knows a few things about playing in the cold.

After the Canadian national team trained indoors Monday, Adekugbe was asked about the coldest game he ever played in and he replied “Probably, Norway, a small town called Tromso, got down to -15,… It was cold but we survived.”

Canada is currently in third place and Mexico is tied with the United States for first. The top three teams will qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the fourth-place team gets a chance to qualify through an intercontinental playoff. Canada just beat Costa Rica in Edmonton on Friday with more than 48,800 fans.
