    During this business quarter, Cineplex had 11 million people pay to see a move compared to 1 million last year. Cineplex Inc. was able to generate a positive income for the first time since the pandemic hit the world. The company made a total of $1.3 million or two cents per share for the quarter that ended June 30.

    Total revenue reached $349.9 million which is an increase from the $64.9 million in the prior year.  Box office revenue per person was $12.29 in the second quarter which is an increase as well..Concession revenues rose to $8.84 per patron compared to $7.86 in the same quarter last year.

    The quarter’s success could be attributed to the great movies that were offered during this quarter. CEO Ellis Jacob said the success “is a testament to the fact that when strong film product is available, Canadians return to theatres in droves.
