Alert Ready will be conducting a nationwide test for Canada’s emergency alert system on Wednesday. So if you own a smartphone, do not be concerned when the emergency alert does hit. The alert message will be displayed on TV, over the radio, and on most mobile devices.

The tests will happen at different times for each province. Ontario’s emergency alert is set to start at 12:55 p.m. EST, Alberta’s will happen at 1:55 p.m. MST, British Columbia’s alert is canceled, and Manitoba’s will begin at 1:55 p.m. CTS. New Brunswick’s will commence at 10:55 AST, Nova Scotia’s alert will sound at 1:55 AST, and Prince Edward Island will start at 12:55 pm AST.

Martin Belanger, director of public alerting at Pelmorex Corp said “Conducting regular tests allows us to better educate Canadians about the Alert Ready system and it provides an opportunity to validate that the system is working end to end… The testing sound will simulate an emergency alert,”
