    The federal government is still recommending people avoid non-essential international travel. In Early June the Canadian government announced fully vaccinated residents could start travelling abroad and can skip quarantine upon their return home. This sparked travel enthusiasts to start packing their bags and make vacation plans.

    Since the government still advises against it, here’s what you should know before planning a trip. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, the loosened restrictions for fully vaccinated travellers due to the improved COVID-19 situation in Canada. However, the government is still advising against international travel because other countries currently have high infection rates and COVID-19 variants.

    A PHAC spokesperson Anne Genier said in an email “Canadians may be forced to remain outside of Canada longer than expected,… Canadians should not depend on the Government of Canada for assistance to changes to their travel plans.” Epidemiologist Nazeem Muhajarine explained “We have to be very careful,… There are many places in the world where COVID-19 is still very much a threat.
