Drivers in Toronto can expect to pay even more at the pump as gasoline prices push new record highs. According to Natural Resources Canada, the average price across the country for regular gasoline hit 197.4 cents per litre on Tuesday.

The price average increased slightly from 197.1 cents per litre on Monday, when prices were up more than 12 cents a week ago. In Vancouver, the prices averaged at about $2.23 a litre, in Toronto the average was slightly under $2 a litre, and in Edmonton the average was just under &1.30 a litre.

Oil has topped US$100 a barrel and higher prices are expected as the re-opening of the economy has led to high demand for gasoline that refiner’s have limited capacity to meet.
