After 22 seasons and 7 Super Bowl Wins, Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady announced his retirement from the game. Becoming the most successful quarterback in NFL history, Tom Brady looks to spend more time with his wife and three children. At 44-years-old Brady retires after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title last season and NFC South championship this season.

On Instagram, Brady posted a statement that said “This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make a competitive commitment anymore,… I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”

Brady’s retirement was leaked on Saturday but his family and Buccaneers denied that he made a final decision. On Monday night he said on his SiriusXM podcast he wasn’t ready to finalize anything. He explained that “I’ve done a lot of reflecting on the past week and have asked myself difficult questions,… And I am so proud of what we have achieved. My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve 100% of me, but right now, it’s best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes.”
