    On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 598 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a slight decrease from yesterday. Yesterday’s case count marks the highest number of COVID-19 cases since October 9 when 654 cases were reported. Currently, there are at least 207 people in hospitals due to COVID-19 and 49 of them are fully vaccinated.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 537 today as it was at 404 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.5 per cent as it processed over 30,230 tests in the last 24-hour period. Ontario has announced on Monday that 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians aged 12 and up are considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

    The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 63 new cases in Toronto, 43 cases in Peel Region, and 37 cases in York Region. In the last 24-hours, Ontario schools have reported 95 cases and 84 of the cases are among students.
