    On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 492 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from the previous days. Before today, the province reported 413 cases on Thursday, 304 cases on Wednesday, and 328 cases on Tuesday. Currently, there are at least 261 people in Ontario hospitals and 149 patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units.

    The seven-day rolling average dropped to 405 today as it was at 465 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 1.4 per cent as it processed over 28,906 tests in the last 24-hour period. Out of the total cases reported today, 325 of them were in individuals who are not fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have an unknown status. Officials reported 167 of the cases in fully vaccinated individuals.

    The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 64 new cases in Toronto, 59 cases in Peel Region, and 38 cases in Ottawa. York Region logged 33 new cases, Windsor-Essex logged 23, and Durham Region reported 19 new infections today.
