    On Tuesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 3,453 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a slight decrease from yesterday. Of the total infections reported Tuesday, 2,500 infections involved people who are fully vaccinated, and 673 cases were in people who are unvaccinated. There are at least 412 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 165 people are in intensive care units.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 3,153 today as it was at 1,400 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 9.9 per cent as it processed over 49,285 tests in the last 24-hour period. On Monday, the province announced anyone aged 18 and older can book an appointment for a booster shot starting today.

    According to Ontario, out of the total number of cases reported Monday, 470 cases involved children under the age of 12. There were 901 new cases logged in Toronto, 345 cases in York Region, and 280 in Peel Region. The province also reported 245 cases in Halton Region, 359 in Ottawa, and 168 in Waterloo.
