    On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 10,964 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from the previous days. Of the cases reported today, just over 1,800 cases were found in people who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. There are at least 3,814 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 527 people are in intensive care units.

    53 per cent of the 3,630 hospitalizations are people who are in hospital primarily due to COVID-19. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 21.8  per cent as they processed 58,600 tests in the last 24-hour period. Anyone aged 18 and older can book an appointment for a booster shot in Ontario.

    According to Ontario, individuals who are fully vaccinated represent just over 88 per cent of the province’s total population. There were 1,961 new cases logged in Toronto, 918 cases in York Region, and 1,561 in Peel Region. The province also reported 633 cases in Halton Region, 453 in Ottawa, and 613 in Waterloo.
