    On Thursday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 1,290 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from yesterday. On Wednesday the province reported 1.009 new cases, Tuesday there were 928 new cases, and on Monday, officials logged 887 new cases. Currently, there are at least 309 people in hospitals for COVID-19 and 155 patients are in intensive care units

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 1,055 today as it was at 851 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 3.5 per cent as it processed over 40,242 tests in the last 24-hour period. Of the cases reported today, 548 involved people who are unvaccinated and 617 were in people who are vaccinated.

    According to Ontario, as of Monday, 11,295,706 people in the province have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. There were 206 new cases logged in Toronto, 115 cases in Windsor-Essex, and 71 in Peel Region. The province also reported 59 cases in Durham Region, 37 in Halton, and 66 in York Region.
