    On Thursday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 13,807 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from the previous days. On Wednesday the province reported a record of 10,436 cases so today counts as the new record for daily cases of COVID-19. There are at least 965 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 200 people are in intensive care units.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 10,327 today which is the highest it has ever been in Ontario. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 30.5 per cent as it processed over 67,301 tests in the last 24-hour period. Last week, the province announced anyone aged 18 and older can book an appointment for a booster shot starting today.

    According to Ontario, more than 27,012,866 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered throughout the province. There were 3,478 new cases logged in Toronto, 1,224 cases in York Region, and 1,468 in Peel Region. The province also reported 732 cases in Halton Region, 683 in Ottawa, and 939 in Hamilton.
