    On Monday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 1,536 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a slight increase from the weekend. The province’s positivity rate has reached its highest level in months. There are at least 253 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 161 people are in intensive care units.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 1,328 today as it was at 940 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 5.5 per cent as it processed over 38,331 tests in the last 24-hour period. Of the cases reported today, 601 involved people who are unvaccinated and 809 were in people who are vaccinated.

    According to Ontario, 24,484,629 shots have been administered to people in the province. There were 255 new cases logged in Toronto, 82 cases in Windsor-Essex, and 89 in Peel Region. The province also reported 75 cases in Halton Region, 116 in Ottawa, and 142 in York Region.
