    On Wednesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 2,011 new infections of COVID-19 however, the number is an estimate due to testing restrictions. Officials said there are currently 688 people in Ontario hospitals with COVID-19 but they reported 220 people are in intensive care units. Officials said that 66 of the people in ICU are fully vaccinated and 40 of the people are unvaccinated.

    Last week, 92.7 per cent of Ontarians over the age of 12 have one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and  90.6 per cent have two doses. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 12.0 per cent as it processed over 15,702 tests in the last 24-hour period. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the province has identified 1,129,543 lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

    Since December 2020, more than 31,000,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province. There were 327 new cases logged in Toronto, 102 cases in York Region, and 183 in Peel Region. The province also reported 46 cases in Halton Region, 123 in Ottawa, and 109 in the Kingston area.
