    On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 2,337 new infections of COVID-19 however, the number is an estimate due to testing restrictions. There are at least 1,281 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 352 people are in intensive care units. The hospitalization and intensive care admissions related to COVID-19 in Ontario have dropped to their lowest levels since the first week of January.

    Last week, 92.1 per cent of Ontarians over the age of 12 have one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and  89.5 per cent had two doses. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 10.8 per cent as it processed over 17,758 tests in the last 24-hour period. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the province has identified more than 1,076,078 lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

    Since December 2020, more than 31,000,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province. There were 306 new cases logged in Toronto, 164 cases in Simcoe Muskoka, and 187 in Peel Region. The province also reported 109 cases in Durham Region, and all other regions reported fewer than 100 cases on Friday.
