    On Wednesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 3,909 new infections of COVID-19 however, the number is an estimate due to testing restrictions. Ontario passed over 1,000,000  lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases last week. There are at least 2,939 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 555 people are in intensive care units.

    The province said that 219 of the people in ICU are fully vaccinated, 182 are unvaccinated and 16 are partially vaccinated. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 13.4 per cent as it processed over 27,720 tests in the last 24-hour period. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the province has identified 1,039,825 lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

    Since December 2020, more than 30,000,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province. Yesterday there were 606 new cases logged in Toronto, 133 cases in York Region, and 334 in Peel Region. Also, yesterday the province also reported 130 cases in Waterloo Region, 205 in Ottawa, and 96 in Halton Region.
