On Thursday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 3,201 new infections of COVID-19 however, the number is an estimate due to testing restrictions. The number of patients in the Ontario intensive care unit with COVID-19 reached its lowest level since early January . There are at least 1,897 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 445 people are in intensive care units.
As of Thursday, 92.1 per cent of Ontarians over the age of 12 have one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 89.6 per cent have two doses. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 11.2 per cent as it processed over 22,417 tests in the last 24-hour period. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the province has identified 1,064,604 lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
Since December 2020, more than 31,000,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province. There were 555 new cases logged in Toronto, 163 cases in York Region, and 275 in Peel Region. The province also reported 145 cases in Windsor- Essex, 171 in Ottawa, and 127 in Waterloo.
