    On Monday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 480 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a decrease from the weekend. There were 636 new cases on Sunday, 508 reported on Saturday, and 563 new cases logged on Friday. Currently, there are 127 patients in hospitals being treated in intensive care units.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 476 today as it was at 371 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.2 per cent as it processed over 22,900 tests in the last 24-hour period. Ontario has just announced that 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians aged 12 and up are considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

    The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 53 new cases in Toronto, 29 cases in Peel Region, and 39 cases in York Region. Ottawa reported 26 cases, Waterloo is reporting 49, and Niagara logged 29.
