    On Wednesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 454 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a slight increase from yesterday. There were 441 cases logged on Tuesday, 480 new cases logged on Monday,  636 new cases on Sunday. Currently, there are at least 148 people in hospitals due to COVID-19 and 61 of them are fully vaccinated.

    The seven-day rolling average rose to 502 today as it was at 379 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 1.8 per cent as it processed over 33,364 tests in the last 24-hour period. Ontario has announced on Monday that 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians aged 12 and up are considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

    The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 42 new cases in Toronto, 33 cases in Peel Region, and 34 cases in York Region. Ottawa reported 43 cases, Simcoe-Muskoka logged 38, and all other regions recorded less than 30 new cases of the virus.
