On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 419 new infections of COVID-19 for the second day in a row. There were 409 new cases on Thursday, 321 reported on Wednesday, and 269 new cases logged on Tuesday. Currently, there are 139 patients being treated for COVID-19 in Ontario hospitals and 29 of the patients were fully vaccinated.
The seven-day rolling average dropped to 355 today as it was at 405 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 1.3 per cent as it processed over 29,592 tests in the last 24-hour period. Out of the total cases reported today, 279 of them were in individuals who are either not fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have an unknown status. There were 140 cases in people who were fully vaccinated.
The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 63 new cases in Toronto, 32 cases in Peel Region, Windsor-Essex logged 34, and 30 cases in York Region. All other regions in the province reported less than 30 cases of COVID-19.
