On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 4,047 new infections of COVID-19 however, the number is an estimate due to testing restrictions. Ontario passed over 1,000,000 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases last week. There are at least 2,634 patients in hospitals for COVID-19 and 517 people are in intensive care units.
The province said that 179 of the people in ICU are fully vaccinated, 161 are unvaccinated and 19 are partially vaccinated. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 12.0 per cent as it processed over 25,118 tests in the last 24-hour period. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the province has identified 1,047,970 lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
Since December 2020, more than 30,000,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province. According to the province, 5,622 more cases of the virus were resolved on Friday. The province reported 253 resident cases and 102 staff cases in long-term care settings across Ontario.
