The first and largest mass vaccination clinic for COVID-19 will be closing today after operating for more than a year. The clinic was located at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and was one of the first three mass immunization sites to open. The site started inoculations on March 17, 2021.

The clinic was initially set up to administer about 450 doses a day back when the supply of vaccine was limited. As supply increased, the clinic was completing thousands of appointments each day. The city has decided to close it for good and move its operations to a new clinic located at Metro Hall.

The new site will be the fifth operating mass immunization centre for the foreseeable future. At one point there was nine mass vaccination clinics running at the same time. The rollout of the third doses has been much slower.
