The city plans to suspend recreational programs to aid the slow down of COVID-19

As COVID-19 cases continue to increase, the city plans to reduce some recreational activities.

Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Eileen de Villa, recommends suspending instructional programs, group fitness, and wellness programs as of October 13.

City officials say, “These programs are deemed high-risk for COVID-19 transmission due to being indoors, where the physical nature of the activity results in close contact and where masks cannot be worn.”

20,000 people would be affected by the closure and suspension of these programs.
