    Wychwood Park

    Overview

Wychwood Park is the exclusive Toronto neighbourhood that has roughly sixty homes situated in a private ravine setting. The area is atop the rolling wooded hills of the Davenport Ridge. Wychwood Park has its own unique community with an executive council. This council oversees the private roads and parkland within the area. Residents in this Toronto neighbourhood pay a special park tax for the privacy that is offered here. The tax will vary in price based on the size of each property.

    History

This Toronto neighbourhood was founded by a landscape painter named Marmaduke Matthews who acquired the land in the 1870’s. His hope was to establish an artist colony at Wychwood Park. The painter named this area Wychwood Park after the Wychwood Forest. In 1874, Matthews constructed the first house in the community at number six Wychwood Park. The second house in the community was built at twenty two Wychwood Park in 1877.
