I had the pleasure of working with Katia in buying my new home. She was always available for me and addressed my concerns. I am unfamiliar with the Durham area but had to move to be closer to my family. I began searching the MLS listings and found a house and requested a showing. Katia responded to my request.
Instead of showing me the one home, she arranged to show me several homes since I had a long drive from my home. She took the time to understand my likes and dislikes and began showing me houses that fit my criteria. We spent many days together and saw over 80 houses giving me the opportunity to get familiar with the different communities and homes since I had no idea where I wanted to go or what specifically I wanted. The bottom line was that I had to move.
I was on a time crunch and since I did not know the region, I was basically all over the place. As a single senior person, buying a house is not an easy task since it is a big purchase and not something many senior citizens do at this stage in life. Katia was very patient and on occasions, had to remind me to focus because as she said, I was like a “kid in a candy store”. After numerous viewings, I began to understand the region and what was available. I could not get the new house that I wanted for the price in my ideal location so after putting in several offers and being out bid I realized what was involved in getting a house in the crazy market. I opted for location and gave up on my new dream house for an older home in a more established community.
Katia was very patient and made time in her schedule to accommodate me. At times I realized I was causing her stress by bouncing around, but she stayed with me and kept me focused until the goal was accomplished.
