On Wednesday, Statistics Canada reported that compared to a year ago, in July, the consumer price index fell to 0.1 per cent, and gasoline prices went up almost 15 per cent.
Refinitiv, a financial data firm, reported that the average estimate had been a year over year increase of 0.5 percent for July. A year ago, in July, the inflation barometer was up 0.7 percent, compared with 1.2 percent in June.
