Canada joins a non-binding pledge with 13 other countries to manage 100 per cent of its oceans by 2025.
Canada pledges to protect 30 per cent of marine waters by 2030, reducing plastic in the ocean, rebuilding fish stock, and creating a sustainability plan.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, “Having the world’s longest coastline, Canada recognizes that our economy and our well-being are deeply connected with the health of our oceans and that we have a responsibility to protect them.”
