The Toronto Board of Health is telling the Ford Government to reopen outdoor amenities for the public. They were closed amid the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic under the Reopening Ontario Act.

Members of the board had a meeting on Monday, where they voted unanimously in favor of lifting the ban on closing outdoor amenities. Parks and other places have been closed for a month and councilor Josh Matlow says the restrictions “don’t make sense… they are not backed by any science-based advice that I’m aware of”.

Science Advisory Table confirmed that they did not recommend the restrictions after they were implemented. They actually said the province should be promoting outdoor activity and let small groups of people meet outside with masks and social distancing.
