Two out of the top ten worst roads in Ontario are right in Toronto. Each year, the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) releases its Worst Roads advocacy campaign. The organization said their efforts have “influenced change over the past 17 years.”
The campaign is meant to “make our roads safer” by telling the government and citizens which roads need the most attention. Today, they released the rankings for Ontario’s worst roads of 2021. The rankings use a voting system that is submitted by the public. Roads can be nominated for being damaged, having potholes, lack of appropriate signage, and more.
The first road on the list is Victoria Road, in Prince Edward County, followed by Carling Avenue, in Ottawa, and Barton Street East, in Hamilton. Fourth place was County Road 49, in Prince Edward County, then Eglington Avenue West, Toronto, and the Hunt Club Road, Ottawa. In seventh place was Eglington Avenue West, Toronto, followed by Innes Road, Ottawa, then Algonquin Boulevard West, Timmis, and finally Queen Street, in Kingston.
