Health Officials in Ontario recorded 590 new infections of the novel coronavirus today, a slight increase over the past two days. However, the seven-day rolling average is still on a decline as it now sits at about 618. Compared to last week the average dropped by over 300 cases.
Currently, Ontario hospitals have 516 people being treated for COVID-19, with at least 450 of those patients in intensive care. As the Ministry of Health processed 31,423 tests in the last 24-hour period, the positivity rate in the province stands at 2 per cent.
Beginning Friday at 12:01 a.m. Ontario will enter Step 1 of its reopening plan, which will allow non-essential retail stores to accept in-person shopping and patios to continue operation.
