Starting Monday more residents in Ontario will be able to book an accelerated second dose coronavirus vaccine. Those who received a first shot of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine will be able to book their second shot eight weeks after. They will be given the choice to either receive a second dose of AstraZeneca or switch to Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech.

People living in areas of the province with the Delta variant of COVID-19 spreading will be eligible to make an appointment for their second shot. But they will need to have received their first shot on or before May 9.

The strategy by the government is to focus on Toronto, Peel, Hamilton, Porcupine, Waterloo, York, and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph area. They are also trying to encourage unvaccinated residents in those areas to get a shot.
