On Wednesday, Ontario decided to reopen borders with Quebec and Manitoba. The provincial orders that restricted interprovincial traveling was introduced in April amid the third wave of COVID-19.

Those orders expired at midnight and apply to all land and water borders. Travel among these regions has been limited for essential purposes only. Essential reasons included health care, custody, or compassionate grounds like attending a funeral.

Law enforcement was also able to stop and question people entering Ontario. They were permitted to ask a question to give them insight into why the traveller is coming to the province.
