Seneca College has announced that they will require students and staff to be fully vaccinated to attend the upcoming semester on campus. As of September 7 all of their campuses across Toronto, York Region, and Peterborough will only be accessible to vaccinated individuals.
It is the first post-secondary institution to actually make it mandatory, as some other universities and colleges have only announced plans to make vaccinations a requirement for in-person learning. A spokesperson for Seneca Caroline Grinch provided a statement for CP24 which said “Should students choose not to be vaccinated, they will need to take a program that is offered online or in a flexible delivery format.”
Seneca College still has not finalized this policy so there are still some uncertainties. It is unclear whether or not partially vaccinated workers or students will be allowed on campus. Over half of Canadians eligible to receive a vaccine have been fully vaccinated.
