On Wednesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 135 new infections of COVID-19. The total of lab-confirmed cases in the province has increased to 548,609. The seven-day rolling average dropped to 149 as last week it was at 164.
Today is the thirteenth day in a row that the province is reporting less than 200 cases per day. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 0.8 per cent as it processed 20,750 tests in the last 24-hour period. Hospitals across the province occupy 139 patients with COVID-19.
There were 34 cases in Toronto, 14 in the York Region, 17 in the Region of Waterloo, 10 in Halton Region, 10 in Grey Bruce, and 10 in Peel Region. Ontario administered 140,491 doses of a Health Canada-approved vaccine on Wednesday. Over the past 7 months, over 18.4 million needles have gone into arms.
