The Canadian Men’s 4×100-metre relay team has captured the bronze medal in back to back Summer Olympics. The most recent one being won today at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo. Canada also won bronze in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics for this event. The team of four consisting of Andre De Grasse, Brendon Rodney, Aaron Brown, and Jerome Blake finished with a time of 37.70 seconds.
Italy claimed the gold medal with a time of 37.50 and Great Britain took silver with 37.51 seconds. De Grasse was in the anchor leg position and helped get his team on the podium. He raced past the Chinese and Jamaican teams who placed fourth and fifth place respectively.
De Grasse was in fifth place when he was passed the baton, so he only had 100 metres to reach the third-place position. Heat and humidity have been the talk throughout these games. This final was scheduled in the evening, so the athletes did not have the sun scorching their skin.
