On Tuesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 525 new infections of COVID-19. There were 694 new cases on Monday, Sunday there were 740 new infections, and on Saturday officials reported 835 new cases. There are at least 336 people in Ontario hospitals due to COVID-19, 33 of the people were fully vaccinated against the virus
The seven-day rolling average is up to 701 as it was at 600 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 3.1 per cent as it processed 19,643 tests in the last 24-hour period. 434 of the confirmed cases today were among people who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have an unknown status. There were 91 cases in people who are fully vaccinated but still got infected by the virus.
The province is currently in Step 3 of its COVID-19 reopening plan. Indoor dining, gyms, hair salons, movies, and more are allowed to open with limited capacity and restrictions. There were 120 new cases in Toronto, 30 cases in York Region, 60 cases in Peel Region, and 19 in Durham Region. Hamilton logged 42 new cases, Windsor-Essex reported 60, and all other regions reported fewer than 30 new cases.
