    On Monday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 610 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a slight decrease from the weekend. On Saturday there were 821 infections, and Sunday there were 715 new cases. There are at least 233 people in Ontario hospitals due to the virus and 177 of those individuals are in intensive care.

    The seven-day rolling average dropped to 710 today as it was 717 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.7 per cent as it processed 23,864 tests in the last 24-hour period. 458 of the new cases today were among those who are not vaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have an unknown status. Also, 152 of the cases were found in people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19

    The province is currently in Step 3 of its COVID-19 reopening plan. Indoor dining, gyms, hair salons, movies, and more are allowed to open with limited capacity and restrictions. There were 126 new cases in Toronto, 71 cases in York Region, 100 cases in Peel Region, and 31 in Waterloo. Ottawa logged 54 new cases, Windsor-Essex logged 29, and Hamilton recorded 23.
