One of Toronto’s largest markets will no longer allow indoor dining due to Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine certificate program. St. Lawrence Market posted on social media saying to continue operating easily with customers, they will not be checking for proof of vaccination.
The market said “To avoid closing all the entrances and screening each customer that comes into the market, the indoor seating will be removed until further notice,… Outdoor picnic tables will continue to be available to people who wish to eat and drink outside.” They further explained that “Proof of vaccination is currently not required to shop at the market but masks remain mandatory unless you’re exempt. Please continue to physical distance to keep everyone safe.”
The market holds more than 120 vendors alone, including some that serve hot foods. Usually, there is seating available indoors and outdoors for customers to enjoy their purchases. The province rolled out the vaccine passport on September 22, making it mandatory to be fully vaccinated for any non-essential services. Proof of vaccination is not mandatory to purchase groceries and other essential goods.
