On Monday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 613 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a slight decrease from the weekend. Sunday there were 654 new cases, on Saturday there were 640 new infections, and Friday there were 727 new cases. This is the third day in a row where the province is reporting cases under 700 and there are 184 patients in intensive care units.
The seven-day rolling average dropped to 621 today as it was 710 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.0 per cent as it processed 22,600 tests in the last 24-hour period. 454 of the new cases today were among those who are not vaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have an unknown status. Also, 159 of the cases were found in people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19
The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 117 new cases in Toronto, 48 cases in York Region, 70 cases in Peel Region, and 46 in Hamilton. Windsor-Essex logged 45 new cases, Durham Region logged 22, and all other regions reported fewer than 30 cases.
