Donald Trump announces the launch of his media company with its own social media platform. This comes just nine months after Trump was banned from various social media such as Twitter and Facebook. He was expelled from various platforms due to his role in inciting the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

The company being launched is called the Trump Media & Technology Group along with its “TRUTH Social” app. His company will rival the Big Tech companies that have denied him a social media platform to speak from. In a statement, Trump said “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced… This is unacceptable.”

This new venture had been created through a merger with Digital World Acquisition Corporation. It said the company seeks to become publicly listed in the future. The app is expected to soft-launch next month, with a nationwide rollout early next year. The company said it will feature a video-on-demand service that will have news, podcasts, and entertainment.
