On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 563 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a big increase from yesterday. Ontario has seen a total of 602,087 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Currently, there are 225 patients being treated for COVID-19 in Ontario hospitals and 57 are fully vaccinated.
The seven-day rolling average increased to 404 today as it was at 355 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 1.8 per cent as it processed over 30,187 tests in the last 24-hour period. Out of the total cases reported today, 314 of them were in individuals who are either not fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have an unknown status. There were 249 cases in people who were fully vaccinated.
The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 44 new cases in Toronto, 44 cases in Peel Region, Ottawa logged 44 and there were 52 cases in York Region. Labs confirmed 488 schools have at least one case of COVID-19 across Ontario’s 4,844 schools.
