On Tuesday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 481 new infections of COVID-19 signifying a decrease from the weekend. There were 552 new cases logged on Monday, 666 new cases on Sunday, and 661 reported on Saturday. Currently, there are 301 patients in hospitals due to COVID-19 and 139 patients are being treated in intensive care units.
The seven-day rolling average rose to 579 today as it was at 492 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.5 per cent as it processed over 18,965 tests in the last 24-hour period. Ontario has just announced that 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians aged 12 and up are considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 56 new cases in Toronto, 31 cases in Peel Region, and 23 cases in York Region. Ottawa reported 31 cases, Northwestern reported 41, and Simcoe-Muskoka logged 33.
