On Thursday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 711 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from yesterday. There were 512 new cases reported Wednesday, 481 new cases logged on Tuesday, and 552 cases logged on Monday. Currently, there are 278 patients in hospitals due to COVID-19 and 129 patients are being treated in intensive care units.
The seven-day rolling average rose to 591 today as it was at 532 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.0 per cent as it processed over 34,347 tests in the last 24-hour period. Of the new cases reported today, 322 involved people who are unvaccinated and 314 infections were in people who are fully vaccinated
The province announced it is pausing the next step of the reopening plan because of the increase in cases. On November 15, capacity restrictions were supposed to be lifted in the remaining high-risk setting where proof of vaccination is required. This next step has been delayed at least 28 days.
