On Friday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 793 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from yesterday. There were 711 new cases on Thursday, 512 new cases logged Wednesday, and 481 cases Tuesday. Currently, there are 269 patients in hospitals due to COVID-19 and 128 patients are being treated in intensive care units.
The seven-day rolling average rose to 625 today as it was at 537 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.6 per cent as it processed over 30,515 tests in the last 24-hour period. Of the new cases reported today, 385 involved people who are unvaccinated and 323 infections were in people who are fully vaccinated
The province released its vaccine passport on September 22, making non-essential service available to those who are fully vaccinated. There were 115 new cases in Toronto, 54 cases in Peel Region, and 60 cases in York Region. Ottawa reported 41 cases, Windsor-Essex reported 51, and Simcoe-Muskoka logged 31.
