    Major tech company Apple will soon start selling parts and tools to average users who want to make small fixes to their Apple devices. It is a big leap forward as many advocates are pushing for the ‘right-to-repair” movement. The company announced next year it will start selling more than 200 parts and tools that can fix the most commonly reported repairs to some of its smartphones.

    Apple started selling parts, tools, and manuals to independent repair shops in 2019. The tech giant said there are currently 2,800 independent shops in its program as well as its 5,000 directly authorized repair providers. This new program is very different as it gives the user the option to repair the device themselves.

    According to Apple, customers will be offered the same pricing on parts and tools as the independent repair shops. Customers will also be able to return their used parts to Apple after completing a repair to receive a discount. COO Jeff Williams said “creating greater access to Apple genuine parts gives our customers even more choice if a repair is needed,”
