On Thursday, health officials in Ontario are reporting 748 new infections of COVID-19 signifying an increase from yesterday. There were 591 cases logged on Wednesday, 613 new cases on Tuesday, and 627 new infections on Monday. Currently, the majority of people being treated in intensive care units are unvaccinated individuals
The seven-day rolling average rose to 692 today as it was at 625 at this point last week. The Ministry of Health says the positivity rate is at 2.6 per cent as it processed over 33,900 tests in the last 24-hour period. Ontario announced last week that 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians aged 12 and up are considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Of the total cases reported today, 326 are in fully vaccinated individuals, and 356 were in those unvaccinated. There were 77 new cases in Toronto, 48 cases in Peel Region, and 43 cases in York Region. Simcoe-Muskoka logged 55 new cases, Kingston reported 35 cases, Windsor-Essex reported 57, and Southwestern logged 39.
