The Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table group said “long COVID” symptoms can last from weeks to months and affect about 10 per cent of those infected. In September, they released a report that found at least 57,000 to 78,000. The Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table is a group that helps give guidance to the province on the pandemic.
They identified more than 200 different symptoms that can impact 10 body organs associated with long-term COVID symptoms. Fahad Razak, member of the COVID-19 science advisory table said “and unlike the infection itself, where we clearly saw that it was more severe and we worried most about older individuals who had a lot of health conditions, the post-COVID condition, or long COVID can affect anybody.”
The World Health Organization reported that around 1 in 4 people who were infected will feel symptoms of this condition for at least one month. In addition, one in ten people experiences the symptoms for over 12 weeks. Razak explains that vaccinations reduce the chances of developing long COVID-19 symptoms.
